Neil Dryden Wins Lexology Index 2025 Competition Economist of the Year Award

Compass Lexecon expert Neil Dryden, Co-Head of the firm’s International Practice, was named the 2025 Competition Economist of the Year by Lexology Index. The award recognizes Neil’s exceptional performance in Lexology Index’s research, which combines client feedback and recommendations with matter data.
Neil received the award during the Lexology Index awards ceremony in London on 26 November 2025. Neil reacted: “This is a very nice surprise! I am very grateful to everyone who provided feedback to Lexology, to clients for their faith in us, and, of course, to my remarkable colleagues at Compass Lexecon.”
Neil has almost 30 years of experience as a competition economist and has advised on over 175 mergers and merger risk assessments. His current casework spans merger control, antitrust litigation, and digital regulation.
Lexology Index’s research describes Neil as a “class act, top of the top - amongst the absolute best, spectacular and 5 stars”, having “huge raw intelligence, and excellent analytical skills”, and being “very pleasant, responsive and easy to work with”.
Neil was previously named 2016 Economist of the Year by Global Competition Review. For multiple years, he has been listed among the most highly regarded “Global Elite Thought Leaders” in Competition Economics by Lexology Index.
Compass Lexecon also won Lexology Index’s award for Competition Economics Firm of the Year and the Spain Experts Country Award. Executive Vice President Boaz Moselle received individual recognition as Energy Expert of the Year for the second time in a row.
