Laura Phaff Vice President, London

Recognised as one of four “Most Highly Regarded” Future Leaders in Competition by Who’s Who Legal, Laura "garners effusive praise for her adept handling of competition proceedings and leadership in complex merger case economic analysis”, according to the independent analysis. Laura advises in competition proceedings including merger control, abuse of dominance allegations, cartel investigations and regulatory price reviews. She holds an M.Sc. in Economics from University College London and an M.A. in Economics and Management from University of Oxford.

Georg ClemensEconomist, Düsseldorf

Georg is described as “a rising star in the German competition economist arena”, with “impressive expertise in digital markets, and strong results in merger and cartel cases”. Georg provides economic analysis in antitrust investigations, merger reviews and cartel damage estimations. He is currently working on antitrust issues related to “big data” and is a member of Compass Lexecon’s big data working group. Georg holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Düsseldorf and a Master of Laws from the University of Bonn. He is a visiting lecturer at the University of Düsseldorf.

Patricia LorenzoSenior Vice President, Madrid

Patricia“comes widely recommended for her econometrics and economic analysis in estimated damages and merger impact evaluations”. Patricia advises on the application of economic analysis and econometric techniques to competition policy issues and damages litigation cases and has over 19 years’ experience in economic consultancy. She advises clients in a range of industries, particularly in media and intellectual property. Patricia holds a B.A. in Economics from the University of Vigo and an M.A. in Industrial Economics from the University Carlos III de Madrid. 

Christopher MildeSenior Vice President, Berlin

Christopher is described as “superb at quantifying damages arising from follow-on cartel litigation.” He is a testifying expert in a number of high profile follow-on cartel damages cases in Germany and the EU. He also has considerable merger experience, recently including e.g. the blocked Loomis-Ziemann deal in Germany. He has over 13 years’ experience in consultancy in Germany, London, Brussels, and Washington DC. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the European University Institute and an M.Sc. in Economics from the University of Tübingen.

Andy ParkinsonSenior Vice President, London

Andy is described as “excellent” and “a really strong economist”. He has over 13 years’ experience advising clients on the economics of competition law, particularly in EC and UK CMA mergers and in competition damages, for which “peers and clients rate [him] highly”. His merger experience includes Bayer/Monsanto and Halliburton/Baker Hughes before the European Commission, and JD Sports/Footasylum and Thermo Fisher/Roper before the CMA. He holds an M.Sc. in Economics from University College London and an M.A. in Economics from the University of Cambridge.

Andrew SwanVice President, London

Andrew is described as “a robust thinker who assesses issues from every possible angle”. Respondents lauded his “in-depth knowledge on merger cases” and ability to be “always one step ahead of the European Commission”. He has particular expertise in the economics of network industries, and vertical and conglomerate issues. He has advised clients before authorities in the UK, US, Europe, Southern Africa, the Middle East, Asia, and South America. Andrew holds an M.Sc. in Economics from the University of Edinburgh and a B.Sc. in Economics and Finance from the University of Cape Town.
