Twenty Compass Lexecon Experts Are Recognized Among the Best in International Arbitration

Last week, Global Arbitration Review published their annual Who’s Who Legal Arbitration 2019: Expert Witnesses Analysis, announcing the world's most highly regarded arbitration experts. Compass Lexecon had 20 experts recognized from North America, EMEA and Latin America. Five of these experts were named amongst the Global Elite Thought Leaders in Arbitration, receiving the highest number of nominations from corporate counsel, peers and other market sources.

In North America, Compass Lexecon was named in the analysis as “the pre-eminent outfit for expert witnesses”. Experts Manuel A. Abdala and Pablo T. Spiller topped the Global Elite Thought Leaders in Arbitration list at #1 and #2 respectively, with Pablo D. López Zadicoff also ranking in the top five. The publication made the following references to our North American experts: Manuel A. Abdala was identified as “a terrific expert who is a very effective testifier” and “well versed in treaty dispute matters related to damage valuation”. Pablo T. Spiller “emerges as one of the most prominent names in the market this year”, described as “a star expert” by peers “thanks to his considerable experience testifying as an expert witness on a range of issues in treaty and contractual disputes”. Pablo López Zadicoff was praised by peers as “a fantastic star in the field” who is known for “producing work of exceptional quality while working extremely hard”. Carla Chavich, based in New York, was also singled out as “a very thorough and incredibly smart expert” who is “a pleasure to work with”.

In the EMEA region, Boaz Moselle was among the top five Global Elite Thought Leaders in Arbitration. Boaz was lauded as “one of the leading names in the market”, with sources calling him “an amazing, shockingly intelligent and knowledgeable expert in gas pricing matters”. He was described as “one of the best testifying economic experts out there”. Julian Delamer, based in London, was also praised by clients as “very clever, thorough and professional in his approach to complex damages issues and regulatory matters”.

In Latin America, Sebastian Zuccon, based in Buenos Aires, was recognized as the only Global Elite Thought Leader in Arbitration in the region, and was described as “a fantastic expert for complex cases”. Marcelo Schoeters, also based in Buenos Aires, was described as “an extremely experienced expert who is excellent at testifying” and “one of the very best names in Argentina for damages valuation”.

Other Compass Lexecon professionals named in the Who's Who Legal Arbitration 2019: Expert Witnesses Analysis include the following: Charles Augustine, Lorenzo Coppi, Neil Dryden, Daniel R. Fischel, Eric Henson, Joseph Kalt, Miguel Nakhle, Jorge Padilla, Alejandro Requejo, David Sevy, Nadine Watson, and Elena Zoido.

The analysis recognized our experts for their outstanding experience acting as damages and valuation experts, often delivering expert testimony, in domestic and international arbitrations under AAA, ICC, SCC, ICSID, UNCITRAL, LCIA, and other arbitration venues.

Nominees for the Who's Who Legal Arbitration: Expert Witness list are selected based on an independent, comprehensive survey of both general counsel and private practice lawyers worldwide. The professionals are acknowledged for their depth of knowledge in this field, as well as their skill in giving expert oral evidence in commercial arbitrations, encompassing examination in chief, cross-examination and, increasingly, witness conferencing.

The Who’s Who Legal Arbitration listing follows Compass Lexecon’s ranking as the top expert witness firm by Global Arbitration Review in the GAR 100 Expert Witness Firms' Power Index, published in April this year.
