Compass Lexecon is delighted to announce that platform economics expert Alexander White has joined Compass Lexecon as a Senior Vice President in our Boston office.

Dr. White has published extensively on digital platforms in leading academic journals. His research offers methodological advances in the pricing of digital goods and services and provides new tools for antitrust and regulatory analysis in the online era.

Before joining Compass Lexecon, Dr. White spent over a decade on the economics faculty of Tsinghua University in Beijing. He was also the director of the Antitrust Research Program at Tsinghua’s National Institute for Fiscal Studies. Dr. White was among a handful of high-level international contributors to the Beijing Cairncross Foundation project on “Competition Policy for China’s Digital Economy.”

He received his PhD from the Toulouse School of Economics and the Diplôme International from Sciences Po, both in France, and did his ungraduated studies at Columbia. He has frequently been a visitor at institutions such as Microsoft, where he worked on search engine business models, and Harvard Business School, where he co-authored a business case on blockchain-based social media.

Chair of Compass Lexecon EMEA Jorge Padilla said, “I am delighted to welcome Alex to Compass Lexecon. He is a superb economist with deep experience in, among other things, platform pricing and non-pricing strategies. Based in Boston, he will contribute to Compass Lexecon’s practice in the US, Europe, and Asia. I am looking forward to teaming with him all around the world.”

Dr. White commented, “I couldn’t be more thrilled to be joining the Compass Lexecon team at such an exciting time. There are so many interesting challenges at the moment in antitrust and litigation around the world, especially relating to platforms and technology, not to mention AI. I feel lucky to be part of such an amazing group and can’t wait to contribute to the team’s efforts in facing these challenges.”

Executive Vice President Vanessa Zhang added, “Alex will make a significant contribution to our expansion in Greater China and Asia and enhance our ability to provide on-the-ground support to our Asian clients facing regulatory and litigation matters.”
