Sam Carless is a Senior Economist with Compass Lexecon based in Washington, DC.

Sam’s work focuses on the application of economic analysis and econometric techniques to competition policy cases, primarily merger cases, but also antitrust cases and damages proceedings. His experience covers a range of industries including energy, manufacturing, and transportation, among others.

Sam has been involved in several competition cases before the European Commission, the UK CMA, and other national competition authorities. He worked on the E.ON/Innogy Phase II merger investigated by the European Commission and an antitrust investigation into the use of rebates by a larger technology company. He is also part of the team that estimates damages for a heavy truck manufacturer in the context of litigation proceedings.

Sam holds an MPhil in Economics from the University of Cambridge and a BA in Economics from the University of Exeter.
