Daniel Urdaneta

Daniel is an economist and financial analyst with more than 13 years of professional experience, specializing in financial analysis and competition economics.
Throughout his career in Compass Lexecon, Daniel has worked in multiple complex cases related to mergers and acquisitions, international arbitration, market investigations and antitrust litigation, before major competition authorities and regulators in Chile, Argentina, Mexico and Peru.
His experience encompasses many industries, including: telecommunications, electricity generation and transmission, entertainment & media, financial services, health care, oil & gas, utilities and retail.
Prior to Compass Lexecon, Daniel worked as an analyst for Latin America at macro policy research firm Medley Global Advisors (Energy Aspects Ltd.). He also served key roles as a trader, investment strategist and buy-side quantitative analyst in banks and asset management firms.
Daniel holds a M.A. in Economics from Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and a B.A. in Economics from Universidad Central de Venezuela. He also holds the CFA® (Chartered Financial Analyst) designation and is a member of the CFA Society Chile.
His areas of interest focus on empirical industrial organization (including public policy impact and event study analysis), corporate finance theory, and financial economics.
In addition to its work at Compass Lexecon, Daniel is a professor of the International Business program at Universidad de Los Andes (Santiago, Chile).
