Dr. Maria Friese is a Senior Economist at Compass Lexecon based in Madrid and Düsseldorf.
Maria has worked on several high-profile cases in front of the European Commission and National Competition Authorities, including mergers, antitrust investigations, and estimations of cartel damages. Her areas of expertise cover a wide range of industries such as energy, transportation, food services, and consumer goods.
Maria holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the Düsseldorf Institute for Competition Economics (DICE), with a focus on the organizational determinants of firms’ productivity. She earned her B.Sc. at Maastricht University and her M.Sc. at Utrecht University. Her research has been published in peer-reviewed outlets, such as the Journal of Economic Behavior & Organization.
