Kirsten Abeln

Kirsten Abeln is a Senior Economist in Compass Lexecon’s European Competition Policy practice, based in the London office.

She has extensive experience in competition economics, having previously worked at a leading consulting firm since 2015. Kirsten has been involved in a number of high-profile cases relating to a range of competition matters.

Kirsten has particular expertise in merger analysis. She has provided economic advice in various merger control cases before the European Commission as well as national competition authorities across multiple jurisdictions, including some of the highest-profile EU and global mergers in recent years. Examples are Saint Gobain/GCP Applied Technologies and Yorkshire Purchasing Organisation/Findel Education. Her experience encompasses a variety of industries, including agrochemicals, industrial gases, manufacturing goods, and transport.

Kirsten holds an MSc in Economics with an emphasis on Competition and Regulation from Tilburg University. Her working languages are English and German.
