Itamar Simonson
Senior Consultant
Itamar Simonson is a Senior Consultant with Compass Lexecon. He is also the Sebastian S. Kresge Professor of Marketing, Emeritus at Stanford Graduate School of Business. Professor Simonson has taught courses in consumer behavior, consumer research and survey methods, decision-making, marketing management, marketing to business, and technology marketing for both MBA and PhD students. He has conducted over 2,000 consumer and managerial surveys.
Professor Simonson has served as an expert in well over 200 litigations involving various marketing and buyer behavior issues (including consumer surveys), technology marketing, antitrust, the impact of product features, class actions, trademark-related matters, false advertising, branding, survey methods, and other issues.
Professor Simonson’s award-winning research spans consumer choice and decision making, the role of brands, survey methods, marketing management, and many other topics. His work has been published in leading academic journals such as the Journal of Consumer Research, the Journal of Marketing Behavior, and the Journal of Marketing Research.
Professor Simonson also serves on the editorial boards of several peer-reviewed journals, including the Journal of Consumer Research, the Journal of Marketing Research, the Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, and the Journal of Consumer Psychology. In addition, he is the co-editor of Consumer Psychology Review.
Professor Simonson has worked as a consultant for companies and organizations on a variety of marketing and buyer behavior topics, the design of consumer surveys, and the measurement of consumer preferences. Before joining the faculty of the Stanford Graduate School of Business in 1993, he taught at the University of California, Berkeley.
