Gerard Llobet is an Academic Affiliate at Compass Lexecon, based in Madrid.

Gerard Llobet received his BA in Economics and Business Administration from Universitat Pompeu Fabra and his PhD in Economics from the University of Rochester. He is currently an Associate professor with Tenure at CEMFI. He teaches Industrial Economics, Market Regulation, and Competition Policy.

He is an applied theorist with broad interests in industrial organization and competition policy. Most of his research focuses on issues related to innovation and intellectual property, leading to publications in outlets including the Journal of Political Economy, Management Science and the Journal of Economics and Management Strategy. Among other areas, he has also worked on the regulation of electricity markets and, in particular, on the effect of the entry of renewable energy production.
