Gerald Aue is a Vice President at Compass Lexecon, based in Paris and Berlin.

Gerald has more than 17 years of experience in energy sector consulting. He has worked on a broad variety of cases in the gas and district heating industry. He has worked predominantly in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, as well as other EU and Energy Community countries in Central and Eastern Europe.

His notable experience in the gas sector includes gas market model design, regulatory questions of gas transmission, distribution and storage, strategy and M&A projects within the gas industry, the decarbonization of the natural gas sector, questions of gas procurement, portfolio management and retailing as well as the support of long-term gas supply contract arbitration proceedings. Moreover, Gerald has significant experience in projects on renewable hydrogen and its use.

For the district heating industry, Gerald has provided economic and modelling support for strategy development and investment appraisals (with a strong focus on CHP plants and decarbonization of district heating) in several projects.

His work in the electricity sector focusses on decarbonisation and market design studies.

Before joining Compass Lexecon, Gerald worked for a Vienna (Austria) based consultancy specialized in the European energy industry with a strong focus on the gas sector.

Gerald is a native German speaker and fluent in English, with conversational knowledge of French. He holds a master’s degree in engineering from Vienna University of Technology and an MBA from Warwick Business School. He is also a CFA charterholder, and a certified Energy Risk Professional (ERP).
