Ed Grgeta is an Executive Vice President with Compass Lexecon based in Washington, DC. Dr. Grgeta has over 20 years of experience as a professional economist in the areas of finance, securities, bankruptcy, international arbitration, antitrust, and labor economics.
Dr. Grgeta has served as an expert in litigation and arbitration and has testified on matters related to finance, antitrust, class certification, and damages. In addition, he has collaborated with some of the most renowned economics and finance experts and has recruited and supported new and experienced testifying experts, including academic experts and industry experts with backgrounds in banking, lending, trading, hedge funds, private equity, insurance, project finance, information technology, COVID-19, crypto, and more.
Dr. Grgeta has worked closely with attorneys, experts, and clients in all phases of the litigation process, including case strategy, discovery, expert reports, depositions, and trials. He regularly assists experts and clients in formulating the most effective opinions that will withstand rigorous cross examination. He also has extensive experience managing case teams in a wide range of litigation and consulting matters.
- In finance matters, Dr. Grgeta has valued businesses and assets, examined corporate governance issues including roles and responsibilities of boards and management, reviewed stockholder and lender rights, studied cryptocurrency markets and trading, evaluated solvency, analyzed debt covenants, evaluated compliance with investment policies, assessed the suitability of complex securities, and performed statistical sampling analyses.
- In securities matters, Dr. Grgeta has evaluated market evidence, conducted event studies, analyzed market efficiency, examined options and volatility, scrutinized management projections, assessed investment strategies, addressed class certification issues, and quantified damages.
- In antitrust matters, Dr. Grgeta has consulted on competitiveness of contract provisions, monopolization claims, cognizable efficiencies, and class certification and damages issues in numerous industries.
- In labor and employment matters, Dr. Grgeta has designed and valued executive compensation and consulted on lost wages, pension benefits, and off-the-clock work.
Dr. Grgeta holds a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Chicago and is a CFA charterholder.
