Despina Doneva

Despina Doneva is a Senior Economist at Compass Lexecon, based in Madrid.

Despina specializes in the application of economic and financial analysis in matters of pricing, damages estimation, and valuation in energy and infrastructure markets. Despina has worked on numerous cases presented before International Arbitration courts.

Her experience includes: quantifying damages in a dispute between a European Member State and a European investor regarding changes to renewable energy support schemes; analysis of the natural gas markets in Europe and Asia in the context of natural gas price reviews; quantifying damages in a commercial dispute related to the termination of a long-term contract for crude oil transportation; and valuation of renewable energy investments in a country in South America in the context of a commercial dispute.

Despina holds an MSc in Economics and Finance from Centro de Estudios Monetarios y Financieros (CEMFI, Madrid), where she specialized in applied microeconomics, competition and regulation, and corporate finance. She holds a BSc (Hons) degree in Economics and Business Economics from Utrecht University in the Netherlands. She speaks fluent English, Spanish, and Macedonian (native).

Prior to joining Compass Lexecon, Despina worked in the economics and regulation department of a consulting company.
