Bernardo Sarmento is a Vice President at Compass Lexecon, based in Madrid.
Bernardo’s work involves the application of economic theory and empirical techniques to competition policy issues and to the quantification of damages in the context of litigations and arbitrations.
His work has included the assessment of the competitive effect of mergers, the estimation of damages arising from anti-competitive conduct and Article 101 and Article 102 TFEU proceedings. Bernardo has worked on cases before the European Commission, as well as various competition authorities and courts of several EU member states and non-EU jurisdictions (Brazil, Colombia, Israel). His experience covers a wide range of industries including tobacco, mobile telecommunications, financial institutions, pharmaceuticals, healthcare services, and energy.
Bernardo holds an M.Sc. in Economics from the Barcelona Graduate School of Economics and a PGDip in EU Competition Law from King’s College London.
