Andrea Pirrone

Dr. Andrea Pirrone is an Economist at Compass Lexecon, based in Milan.

Andrea has been involved in several high-profile cases before the European Commission, the UK Competition and Market Authority (CMA) and other European and non-European national competition authorities and courts. He has worked on mergers, cartels, and damages cases in a wide range of sectors, including technology, entertainment and media, and digital platforms.

Before joining Compass Lexecon, Andrea worked as an economist at the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and at Ofcom, the UK’s financial services and communications regulators respectively. During his time at the FCA, he worked on financial stability, evaluating the effects of regulating financial benchmarks and several other policies. At Ofcom, he applied innovative empirical techniques to estimate online harms.

Andrea holds a Ph.D. and a Master’s degree in Economics from Université Catholique de Louvain (Belgium).
