Esteban Cattaneo is a Senior Economist at Compass Lexecon, based in Madrid.
Esteban’s work applies econometric techniques to antitrust and competition policy, including mergers, Article 101 and Article 102 TFEU investigations and litigation proceedings.
Some of his recent work include advice on the HHI/DSME merger with proceedings before the European Commission as well as several competition authorities in South-East Asia, and on the European Commission's Article 102 investigation into Apple's music streaming practices through its App Store. He is also part of the team that assists a heavy truck manufacturer with the estimation of damages following an Article 101 TFEU infringement, for which litigation proceedings are taking place in various European countries.
Prior to joining Compass Lexecon, Esteban developed his expertise in the academic sector. He holds a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Mannheim, where he specialized in empirical industrial organization with a focus on structural econometrics applied to competition policy.
He speaks Spanish and English, as well as German, and Catalan.
