Compass Lexecon is pleased to announce that Matthias Pflanz has joined the firm's London office as a Senior Consultant.

Mr. Pflanz has over two decades of experience advising clients on a wide range of competition and regulatory proceedings before the agencies and courts of the EU, UK, Germany and elsewhere. For example, he has led the economic team on behalf of one or both of the merging parties in a number of major EU merger cases, including GE/Honeywell and Oracle/PeopleSoft among many others. He also has extensive experience in private competition litigation before European member state courts, in competition authority proceedings relating to abuse of dominance, cartels and agreements, and in commercial litigation and arbitration. Prior to joining Compass Lexecon, Mr. Pflanz was a Vice President at Charles River Associates and led CRA's German Competition Practice.

Jon Orszag, a Senior Managing Director of Compass Lexecon, commented that, "I first worked with Matthias on a merger over a decade ago and have admired his work (and tried to recruit him) ever since. Matthias' addition to Compass Lexecon further strengthens our ability to help clients on matters before competition authorities throughout Europe, as well as elsewhere."

Jorge Padilla, also a Senior Managing Director of Compass Lexecon added that, "I am delighted to have Matthias on board at Compass Lexecon in Europe. He is one of the top economic consultants in Europe and a key addition to our growing German-speaking team. Matthias has got the experience, talent, and strong economics background needed to advise on the most complex competition cases. Everyone at the team looks forward to working with him."

Mr. Pflanz said, "I am thrilled to join Compass Lexecon and look forward to working with Jon, Jorge, and the rest of the Compass Lexecon team on mergers and other matters."
