Acquisition of Darty by FNAC Cleared After Phase II Investigation

In July 2016, the French competition authority cleared the merger between white-goods retailer Darty and retailer FNAC subject to conditions, after a Phase II investigation.
Compass Lexecon advised Darty during the process of the acquisition. We assessed the potential competitive effects of the transaction and the remedy package designed to allay competition concerns during the deal negotiation phase. We then provided support to Darty throughout the review of the merger by the French competition authority.
