Umberto specialized in the application of economic analysis to competition cases, with a focus on the competitive impact of mergers and anticompetitive practices, litigation and damages.

Umberto has been involved in several cases relating to mergers, abuses of dominance, cartels and damage estimation before the European Commission, the UK Competition and Markets Authority (CMA), the Italian Competition Authority (AGCM), Italian civil and administrative courts and the Competition Appeal Tribunal (CAT). Umberto has advised clients in a range of industries, including financial services, heavy trucks, maritime shipping, retail, technology, and telecommunications.

Umberto holds a B.Sc. in International Economics and Finance (with major in Economics) and an M.Sc. in Economics – both summa cum laude – from Bocconi University, where he specialized in competition policy, industrial organization and microeconomics theory.
