Lau Nilausen is a Senior Vice President with Compass Lexecon based in London.

Lau combines expertise gained across more than 20 years as a competition regulator, management consultant, valuation expert, and competition economics expert witness to provide expert evidence across competition investigations, competition litigation, commercial litigation, merger control, and sector regulatory matters.

Lau draws on his multidisciplinary literacy to deploy a full suite of economic theory, analytical techniques, and insights from precedent to resolve complex issues in the intersection between economics and finance. He offers deep expertise particularly across (i) predatory pricing, margin squeeze, excessive pricing, rebates, and price discrimination in the context of abuse of dominance cases, (ii) pricing remedies in regulatory matters, (iii) foreclosure theories of harm, merger rationale assessments, and efficiencies in merger control matters, and (iv) theories of harm and quantum in damages cases.

Lau has produced independent expert reports for submission to courts and competition and regulatory bodies across Europe, the Middle East and Africa and has given oral evidence before the Eastern High Court in Denmark and at European Commission hearings. His experience encompasses a broad range of sectors, with extensive experience within telecoms, media, and technology.

Lau holds a B.Sc. and an M.Sc. in economics from the University of Copenhagen, an MBA from SDA Bocconi, and is CFA Charterholder. He has published in journals such as the Competition Law Journal, Competition Law & Policy Debate, and Revista propiedad intelectual e innovación digital, receiving nominations in the 2024 and 2026 Concurrences Antitrust Writing Awards
