Amy Affelt is the Director of Database Research with Compass Lexecon based in Chicago. As the Director of Database Research, Worldwide, Amy brings over 25 years of research experience to lead a team of professional librarians who conduct online research using proprietary databases in order to find, analyze, and transform information and data in to knowledge deliverables for our economists. She is a frequent writer and conference speaker on fake news, Big Data, adding value to information, evaluating information integrity and quality, and marketing information services. She is the author of two books, All That’s Not Fit to Print: Fake News and the Call to Action for Librarians and Information Professionals (Emerald, 2019), and The Accidental Data Scientist: Big Data Applications and Opportunities for Librarians and Information Professionals (Information Today, Inc., 2015) and is a Fellow of the Special Libraries Association. She has a BA in history, Phi Beta Kappa, from the University of Illinois at Chicago and an MLIS from Dominican University.
