Juan Wences Rivera

Juan is an Economist at Compass Lexecon, based in Brussels

Juan’s work focuses on the application of economic analysis and econometric techniques to competition policy cases, including antitrust investigations, merger control cases, and damage estimations.

He has been involved in competition cases before the European Commission, the Competition and Markets Authority and the Competition Appeal Tribunal in the UK, among other competition national authorities.

Juan has provided economic support in competition cases in digital platforms, manufacturing and retail sectors. Juan was also part of the team that provided economic advice in the context of the consumer class action proceedings against Mastercard in the UK.

Prior to joining Compass Lexecon, Juan worked at the Federal Telecommunications Institute (IFT) in Mexico, which was the regulator and competition authority in the telecommunications sector, and at the Mexican Competition Authority (COFECE).

Juan holds a Master Degree in Economics of Markets and Organizations from Toulouse School of Economics and a BA in Economics from Centro de Investigación y Docencia Económicas (CIDE).
