Wojciech Pawlak is a Senior Economist in Compass Lexecon’s European Competition Policy practice, based in London.

Wojciech has extensive experience in competition economics, having previously worked at the UK Competition and Markets Authority and at a leading consulting firm since 2014.

While at the UK CMA, Wojciech worked on Sainsbury’s/Asda and was the lead economist on eight Phase I merger investigations. His work involved providing recommendations to decision makers on which theories of harm to investigate what types of evidence to gather and what the outcome of these cases should be. Wojciech has gained first-hand knowledge of how the CMA works.

As a consultant, Wojciech advised on a wide variety of high-profile cases before the European Commission as well as before national competition authorities, specifically in the UK, Poland and South Africa. His casework included mergers and acquisitions (e.g., Essilor/Luxottica), cartel litigation, RPM and market investigation cases. He provided economic advice in a broad range of sectors including office supplies, optical products, fast moving consumer goods, lifting and material handling solutions, financial services, healthcare and telecommunications.

Wojciech is fluent in English and Polish. He holds an MSc in Economics from the London School of Economics and Political Science.
