Verdi Choo is a Senior Economist at Compass Lexecon, based in Singapore.

Verdi has advised on mergers and antitrust investigations before the European Commission and various competition authorities in APAC and the Americas, covering matters in the energy, insurance, media, semiconductors, technology, telecommunications, and transport industries.

He has extensive experience advising on antitrust investigations and litigation proceedings globally. In recent years, Verdi has provided economic advice on abuse of dominance investigations (such as the UK class action Which? v Qualcomm and the Google Play Store investigation in India), cartel investigations (including information exchange), and damages estimation. He has advised on several EU Foreign Subsidies Regulation investigations and Intellectual Property disputes regarding Standard Essential Patents.

Verdi has also advised on mergers globally, including Broadcom/VMWare and True/DTAC before various APAC authorities, as well as TIL/Hutchison Ports/TERCAT, MSC/HGV/HHLA and PKN/Orlen before the European Commission.

Verdi’s regional experience includes advising on matters before authorities in Mainland China, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, India, Singapore, and Thailand.

Verdi holds a BSc (Hons) in Economics from the University of Warwick and a PGDip in EU Competition Law from King’s College London. He is recognised as a Future Leader in the 2026 Lexology Index for Competition Economists.
