Joshua Phoon is an Economist at Compass Lexecon, based in Singapore. He was previously based in Compass Lexecon’s London office before joining the Singapore team.
Joshua’s work focuses on the application of economic analysis and econometric techniques to competition policy cases. He has advised on litigation, commercial dispute and merger control cases across a range of industries including digital platforms, financial institutions, manufacturing, mining and transportation.
Joshua has extensive experience advising on litigation cases globally. In recent years, he was part of the teams that provided economic evidence in the Epic Games vs Google litigation in Australia, the Merchant Interchange Fee Umbrella Proceedings in the UK and damages actions following Article 101 TFEU infringements by heavy truck manufacturers and chemical producers in Europe.
In the context of mergers, Joshua has advised on Thermo Fisher / Solventum, Yokohama Rubber / Trelleborg Wheel Systems and Impala Platinum / Royal Bafokeng Platinum before authorities around the world.
Joshua holds a MPhil in Economic Research (Distinction) and a BA in Economics (First Class Honours) from the University of Cambridge.
