Ram Smaran Suresh Kumar



Ram Smaran Suresh Kumar is an Economist at Compass Lexecon, based in London.

Ram Smaran’s work focuses on the application of economic analysis and econometric techniques to competition cases, including in mergers, antitrust, and litigation cases. He has worked in a range of industries including digital platforms, technology, retail, and healthcare and life sciences.

Ram Smaran has been involved in several merger cases before the European Commission (EC), UK Competition and Markets Authority (CMA), and other national competition authorities. His experience with Phase 1 mergers includes Thermo Fisher Scientific/PPD, Farfetch/YOOX Net-a-Porter Group, Google/Photomath, and other cases across different sectors. He has also been involved in litigation concerning interchange fees before the UK Competition Appeal Tribunal (CAT).

Ram Smaran holds an MSc in Economics from the London School of Economics and a BSc (Research) in Economics (with a minor in Mathematics) from Shiv Nadar University, Delhi-NCR. He has also attended a summer school in Applied Platform Economics at the Paris School of Economics.
