Josep Peya is an Economist at Compass Lexecon, based in Madrid.
Josep specialises in the application of economic analysis to the study of competition policy, including the assessment of market definition, the competitive impact of mergers, anticompetitive practices and damages estimations.
Josep has been involved in several competition cases before the European Commission as well as national competition authorities. In the recent past, he worked on the JD Sports/Footasylum merger investigated by the UK CMA, and Phase 2 merger investigations Fincantieri/Chantiers de l’Atlantique and E.On/Innogy by the European Commission. He is also part of the team that estimates damages for a heavy truck manufacturer in the context of litigation proceedings.
Josep holds a Master in Competition and Market Regulation from Barcelona GSE and a double degree Bachelor in Economics and Law from University Pompeu Fabra. He is a qualified lawyer in Spain.
