Dr. Daniel Coublucq is a Vice President with Compass Lexecon based in Brussels.
Daniel specializes in the application of economic and econometric analysis techniques to the study of antitrust and competition policy issues, including the assessment of the competitive impact of mergers, market definition, antitrust matters involving horizontal agreements and abuse of dominant position, and state aid investigations. Daniel’s experience covers a wide range of sectors, including the agrochemical industry, telecommunications, energy, transport (airlines and liner shipping), and manufacturing.
Before joining Compass Lexecon, Daniel was a member of the Chief Economist Team at the European Commission’s DG Competition. In this role, he worked on several important Phase II merger investigations and antitrust cases, including the Bayer/Monsanto, Dow/DuPont, GE/Alstom, Staples/Office Depot and Telefonica/E-Plus mergers, and investigations of airline alliances. Daniel has also given several presentations at Competition Authorities, Universities, and conferences on the use of quantitative techniques in competition cases.
Daniel holds a Ph.D. in Economics and an M.Sc. in Mathematical Economics and Econometrics from the Toulouse School of Economics.
