Andrew Swan is a Senior Vice President based in Compass Lexecon’s London office.

He has more than 14 years’ experience as a professional economist specializing in competition policy, with particular expertise and interest in the economics of network industries, and vertical and conglomerate issues.

Before joining Compass Lexecon, Andrew was an economist in the Policy and Research division at the South African Competition Commission based in Pretoria, and at consultancies in Johannesburg and London.  Andrew was listed by Who’s Who Legal and GCR as a Competition Future Leader in recent publications.

Andrew has experience in horizontal and non-horizontal mergers, abuses of dominance, cartel investigations, market inquiries, regulatory proceedings, and commercial litigation. He has advised clients before authorities in the UK, US, Europe, Southern Africa and, more recently, the Middle East, Asia, and South America.  His sector experience includes advertising, agriculture, construction, transport/aviation, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, manufacturing, FMCG, telecommunications, tech, media, mining, petrochemicals, chemicals, insurance, financial services, professional services, biopharma and industrial engineering.

Andrew holds a Master of Science degree in Economics from the University of Edinburgh and a Bachelor of Business Science degree in Economics and Finance from the University of Cape Town
