 Daniel R. FischelChairman and PresidentFischel's areas of expertise are securities, corporation law, regulation of financial markets, and the application of the economics of corporate finance to problems in these areas. He has been cited by state and federal courts at all levels including the United States Supreme Court. Fischel has given expert testimony on numerous occasions in federal courts, before arbitration panels, and in regulatory proceedings in the areas of securities, commodities, corporation law, regulation of financial markets, and the application of the economics of corporate finance. For the past few years, he has been the principal damages witness for the United States Department of Justice in a series of breach of contract cases involving over $100 billion, commonly called the Winstar cases. Fischel has published widely in books and scholarly journals. His article "Use of Modern Finance Theory in Securities Fraud Cases Involving Actively Traded Securities," Business Law 1 (1982), is the seminal article describing the application of financial economics to securities fraud litigation. He is co-author of The Economic Structure of Corporate Law with Frank H. Easterbrook and author of Payback: The Conspiracy to Destroy Michael Milken and His Financial Revolution. He is the Professor of Law and Business at Northwestern University School of Law and Kellogg School of Management and the Lee and Brena Freeman Professor of Law and Business, Emeritus at the University of Chicago. |
