Dr. Keating’s areas of expertise include industrial organization, antitrust, and applied econometrics. He has conducted economic and econometric analysis in support of litigation (class certification, liability, and damages phases), arbitration/settlement discussions, and efforts to secure regulatory approval for mergers. At Compass Lexecon, Dr. Keating has designed and implemented complex econometric models using large-scale databases, especially in industries that involve differentiated products. He has also analyzed issues relating to market definition, competitive effects, welfare analysis and merger simulation in a wide variety of industries including airlines, computer software and hardware, consumer products, health care, payment cards, sports, and telecommunications. Dr. Keating earned a Ph.D. in Economics from Stanford University and a B.A. in Economics and Government from Dartmouth College. Previously, he held positions at Acumen, LLC and NERA Economic Consulting.
